Guide to Urban Moonshining

The Kings County Distillery Guide to Urban Moonshining explores America’s enduring love affair with whiskey, blending history, culture, and hands-on craft into one engaging volume. Written by the founders of Kings County Distillery—the first distillery in New York City since Prohibition—this book captures the spirit of a new generation of urban distillers.

Beginning with a deep dive into whiskey’s evolution from 1640 to today, it traces how the rise of DIY distilling and the classic cocktail revival have made whiskey more popular than ever. The book then transitions into a practical, step-by-step guide to safe home distilling, complete with tools, techniques, and helpful visuals.

The final section highlights the modern whiskey scene, featuring microdistilleries, along with cocktail recipes, food pairings, and expert advice on building your own whiskey collection.
